When people hear the terms “liquidation” and “liquidation centres,” they may have a general idea about what they mean, but perhaps not completely understand all the ins and outs. Over our 16 years in our current location, we at Wayman Services Liquidation Centre have noted that often our newer clients are not quite sure about what we do and how we do it. As we want you to be completely comfortable with your experience with us, here is our explanation of how our business works and how it benefits you as a consumer.
The term “liquidate” refers to the process of converting property or assets into cash or cash equivalents through sales in the open market. Similarly, liquidation encompasses the procedure of winding down a business and distributing its assets to creditors.
Liquidation can occur either voluntarily or involuntarily. Voluntary liquidation might be initiated to generate cash for new investments or to close out existing positions. In contrast, forced liquidation typically happens during bankruptcy proceedings, where a business is either compelled by legal rulings or contractual obligations to convert its assets into liquid form, such as cash.
Additionally, liquidation may involve selling off inventory at significant discounts for reasons such as overstock, or cancelled orders. Companies may choose to liquidate inventory to make room for newer products.
The “Wayman Services” part of the name Wayman Services Liquidation Centre refers to founder Wayne Mantika’s ability to provide needed services to those having to liquidate. With nearly 40 years of expertise in the liquidation and auction industry and with deep understanding of merchandise buying, appraising, and selling, we are committed to providing our customers with exceptional deals. We have cultivated a trusted network of colleagues and business owners who reach out to help sell surplus inventory, whether it’s items they no longer have space for, older models being replaced by newer models, products delivered in error, or insurance claims involving items that have been damaged minimally or even not at all. Wayne finds a way to turn these opportunities into incredible bargains for his customers. The stories behind the products may vary, but the outcome is always the same — great savings for Wayman shoppers.
What about the ‘Liquidation Centre’ part of the name?
A liquidation centre is a retail outlet specializing in selling surplus, returned, or discontinued merchandise at significantly reduced prices. Wayne’s liquidation centre is conveniently located in southeast Calgary at an easily accessible location for customers across the city. The goal of a liquidation centre is to provide consumers with access to quality goods at bargain prices, making it a popular destination for budget-conscious shoppers.
Typically, liquidation centres offer a wide range of products, including electronics, furniture, clothing, and home goods. The inventory can change frequently, so shoppers find unique deals with each visit. While the items sold are often brand new, they may also include open-box or slightly damaged products. This model not only helps businesses recover some capital but also allows customers to benefit from deep discounts, making liquidation centres a win-win for both parties.
A real treasure hunt, we never know what we will get or when we will get it. It all depends on what’s available. Please remember that we are not a wholesaler and do not do special orders.
Thinking of coming shopping? Browse our website … and then browse it again
We are well known at Wayman for our excellent deals on the highest quality mattresses available 365 days a year, but that is not all we have. As mentioned, liquidation centres can have virtually anything. It’s common in the liquidation industry for our inventory to turn over quickly (especially our mattresses), but we also have boxsprings, platform and adjustable bases, plumbing fixtures, appliances, furniture, office supplies and more.
So, it’s a good idea to check our website out regularly if you are interested in a particular item and also because you never know what else you will find. One page to pay extra attention to is where we post our weekly specials. Here you will find items that have had their prices drastically reduced as well as our list of news and events. For example, just this month we received a trailer full of more than 150 new items … too many to squeeze onto our website. Among them were exercise equipment, generators, gazebos, a snow blower, TVs, tools, and even a pool table.
